My Work
Morning Meeting
This activity happens every morning to help guide the students through the transition of coming to school and to provide them with a reliable schedule for the beginning of the day. This activity has the students practice their greeting skills, say the pledge of allegiance, listen to a song about the current month of the year, identifying the day, month, date, and year, responding to a question of the day, participate in a multimodal activity (coloring, cutting, writing, reading, movement, etc.) and finally checking in with their zones of regulation to work on their identifying emotions skill.
Virtual Goebbert's Farm Fieldtrip
During the semester impacted by Covid-19, I created a 'virtual fieldtrip' for my students to partake in safely during the spring time. It is a 'visit' to Goebbert's Farm which is a very popular far in our area. This virtual visit includes looking at the farm on Google maps, taking about the bus ride from the school to the farm, visuals to help the students chose what activities they would like to participate in, fun facts about a specific set of 5 common farm animals, a printed Corn Maze activity, a virtual egg hunt, fun facts about a specific set of 5 common flowers grown at farms, and a video experience of a Hay Ride.

Marshmallow Bridges
This activity instructs students through the process of using their creativity and problem solving skills to build a bridge out of marshmallows and toothpicks. With this activity, the students will be instructed about the purpose, description, required materials, STEM connection, rubric, and rationale. This activity has high visuals and supports for the students as required by my current placement in a communication development classroom.
Cinco de Mayo 'Party'
This activity was created to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and to support the student's following directions and listening goals. In this activity the students watch a video from PBS about what Cinco de Mayo is, learn how it is celebrated through activity and food, watching a traditional Cinco de Mayo dance, and following directions to create their own guacamole.
Goodbye Letters/Gifts
While preparing to say goodbye to my students while I was a student teacher, I created personalized goodie bags to give the students on my last day. These goodie bags consisted of the students favorite treat, a fidget ball, inspirational pencils, and a thank you note. I also sent home a letter to the parents in my last week to thank them for welcoming me into their child's classroom.
