Hello

A Bit About Me:

Hello, my name is Rachel Matug. I graduated as Magna Cum Laude from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. My certification is in Special Education: Learning and Behavior Specialist (LBS1)I am also a Golden Apple Foundation Scholar. I am currently a high school and primary Emotional Disability Special Education Teacher at a therapeutic day school. I teach high school math, college/career readiness, and primary physical education.

My Philosophy on Education:

Teaching is the most important and valuable career because everyday it allows me to provide students with knowledge, and knowledge is power. I have chosen to be a special education teacher because I truly enjoy making education accessible to all students. I want to be able to provide my students with the education they need to be able to change their community and our world. I plan to contribute to the lives of all my students in a positive way by being a caring and passionate adult figure in their lives that will fight tooth and nail for their futures. I never want my students to feel that their diagnosis or their zip code identifies their level of success or future outcomes of their lives.
